English 4 is a literature-based course while integrates reading, writing, literature, vocabulary, speaking, listening, and library skills. Students write in a variety of domains and for various purposes and British Literature is read and analyzed. English 4 does not meet the UC or Cal State University Entrance requirements and is not approved for the Scholar with Distinction, Scholar with Honors and Scholar with Expertise programs.
College Prep English 4

Prerequisites: A grade of C or higher in CP English 3 and teacher recommendation
This is an academic class designed specifically for serious and college bound students. The class discussions, writing assignments, and regular homework stimulate high levels of critical thinking. This course is a part of the Scholar with Distinction, Scholar with Honors and Scholar with Expertise programs and meets college entrance requirements.
AP English 4

Prerequisites: A grade of B or higher in English honors 3 and/or teacher recommendation. Summer assignment required. Fees involved for advanced Placement Exam and materials.
This class is the fourth in a series of literature-based honors courses integrating writing, literature, listening, speaking, and library skills. This is an accelerated class specifically designed for outstanding and serious students who are challenge to read, analyze and to write extensively, using high level thinking skills. Students are encouraged to take the College Board’s Advanced Placement Exam. This class meets college entrance requirements and is approved for the Scholar with Distinction, Scholar with Honors and Scholar with Expertise programs.
