Prerequisites: Reading 2 or more years below grade level; test scores
Language Literacy I emphasizes basic skills to build vocabulary, concentration, study skills, reading comprehension, recall and speed. Computer instruction is tailored to each student’s needs and reading ability. A student demonstrating proficiency through grade level standardized test scores and passing grades in his or her academic classes will be recommended to exit the reading program.
Language! II
Length: 1 year
Grade Level: 9-12
Prerequisites: Reading 2 or more years below grade level
Language Literacy I emphasizes basic skills in word study, word recognition/spelling, vocabulary, text reading, comprehension, and English language arts.
Developmental Reading I
Length: 1 year
Grade Level: 9-12
Prerequisites: Reading 2 or more years below grade level
Developmental Reading I is the final level in the reading program. It emphasizes basic skills in vocabulary strategies, independent reading, listening, comprehension, interactive reading, fluency, reading across the curriculum and technology. |
