All students who have submitted lunch applications can pick up their letter of approval in the main office. Please see Mrs. Whitely before school and at break and lunch. (End 9/19)

If you have received an “A” in a class and wish to become a peer tutor earning $10 per hour, please pick up an application from Mrs. Wakeman in the Career Center.

All juniors and motivated sophomores…the PSAT will be on Saturday, October 18th. You may register for the test from September 22nd through October 8th in the Finance Office. The cost of the test is $20.

All students must have an ID card. If you took a picture for an ID the first day of school, these are now ready to be picked up in the Activities Office. If you did not take a photo for an ID, come to the Activities Office. The hours are tutorial, break, lunch and after school up to 3:15 p.m.

Attention Oilers…if you had a photo taken for an ID in the Activities Office and If you want your photo in the yearbook, you must go to the gym on Monday, September 22nd anytime between 7:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. and take your picture. This is the ONLY day that make up photos will be taken to ensure that your picture will be in the yearbook.

For all the freshmen Oilers who are interested in being a part of the ASB family at Huntington, packets for class officers are available all week in the Activities Office. ASB is a great way to be involved in the school and looks good for colleges. Packets are due next week! Pick up yours today.

Hey seniors…applications for Senior of the Month are now available in the Activities Office. Stop by and pick up a packet. Have them completed by the 25th of each month for eligibility.

Sign up for the HBHS Dodge ball Tournament in the Activities Office. The Tournament will be during lunch. 6 people to a team; 3 guys and 3 girls, $5 per person.

Homecoming is only a month away. Please make sure that you have served all Saturday School and detention hours PRIOR to tickets going on sale. Also remember, Citizenship grades matter. If you have two “U’s” in citizenship, you will not be able to attend the Homecoming Dance.

Hey Oilers…got a teacher you really like? Well then vote for Teacher of the Month for September in the Activities Office.

Interested in planning Red Ribbon week activities on camps? Want to have fun at Magic Mountain on November 1st? Come to FNL Club meeting Thursday at lunch in room A10.

No 5th/6th stickers will be available in the Supervision office starting Wednesday, 9/17. Please bring your ID card to the Supervision office for your sticker. The process requires a 24-hour turn around time.

Many of you have received absences that you may not be aware of. This may be due to schedule changes. Please do this weekly. If you find an error print it out and have the teacher correct it online. Bring the signed printout to the Attendance Office. (End 9/19)

Attention all students…just a reminder that the hallways and breezeways are off limits at lunch time.
Hey Oilers…did you do something this summer that was totally outrageous or cool? Our yearbook staff would love to see what you did. Stop by Mr. Kamei’s room in B20 at lunch on Wednesdays or Fridays with pictures. (End 9/29)

Parking permits must be displayed at all times. Student parking is available in the student parking lot off of 17th street. No students are allowed to park in the staff lot. Violators will be cited.

Attention Oilers…here’s a great way to earn some spending money of your own. Cashiering positions are available in the cafeteria. No need to leave campus. Earn money while at school. You must be at least 14 years old. Contact Mrs. Elena Gonzalez in the cafeteria for an application. (End 9/19)

APA ladies and gentlemen......Go out and gather your APA Walk for the Arts donations and turn them into the APA office along with your “Walk Envelope” by September 17th @ 5 p.m. to be eligible for drawings that happen at Lake Park on the day of the walk. The walk itself happens Friday September 26th, starting with signing in at the Student Center at 2:45 p.m. with BBQ, DJ and games. Be there or be sad when everybody talks about it the following Monday morning. (End 9/17)

Attention all returning PAL members…this Saturday is a mandatory car wash for the victims in Parkessburg, Iowa. All PAL members must help in the contribution for the victims. Please see Mr. O about selling tickets and when to be at the school parking lot.

Do you think you can wow us? Participate in the 2008-2009 Reflections contest! The Theme is “Wow!” Entry forms and rules are available in the Activities Office. All entries must be submitted by Friday, October 3rd at 3 p.m.

Class ring orders will be taken next Tuesday, September 23rd by the Student Center before school and during break and lunch. Samples of all rings and stones will be on display at time of order. Extra ordering packets are available in the Activities Office.

12-Step Recovery meetings will resume on Thursday, September 11th from 6-7 p.m. in the Library. Attend a meeting and earn 2 hours detention credit.

HBHS Boys’ Soccer try outs will be held after school Thursday and Friday, September 18th & 19th and next Tuesday, September 23rd from 3:30-5 p.m. Try outs will be held at Worthy Park. (End 9/23)
